Building Reviews (9)
I'm not sure exactly why there are such bad reviews for Windsor Court. This is my second year living here and I have to say everything has been awesome. First off, location is prime! Steps away from the six train, across the street from trader joes and just overall very accessible to go anywhere in the city especially if it's on the east side.My experience signing a lease here was also pretty seamless....besides needing a ridiculous amount of documents to show income etc. And needing to make 50x the rent and not the usual 40x. The apartment we rented is a one bedroom flex and we did it without a broker as I saw the apartment online on the website. We put up a wall (they make you use one company) that cut our living room in half so it makes a small but cozy living space. All the staff is AMAZING and maintenance here is #1. Not that I've had many things go wrong in my apartment, but they fix it within the day. I've been super happy with the apartment and everyone who works for the building.Cons:
Cons: they charge 19 dollars for a guest to go on the roof/gym which I think is way too high considering how much we pay to live here, I wish they had more than one washing machine per floor, they are very strict about moving furniture in the elevator so beware and call AHEAD
What kind of apartment charges $19 per guest per visit when you pay over $4500 a month + amentities... pathetic
I've lived in Windsor Court for 6 years and have always paid my rent on time. Now I am moving out and the property manager REFUSED to allow me to reserve the service elevator to move out. Yes, I waited until the last minute to make that reservation - but it's an elevator. I should have the right to reserve it to move my belongings out. When I asked her for a solution, she told me I could extend my lease for a week (and pay) to move my stuff out - since SHE WILL NOT allow me to use an elevator to move it out before the end of the month. I loved living in my apartment here - but the property management staff is terrible. Awful customer service. Rude, nasty and make living here a nightmare dealing with them. They also charged us a $50 fee and when I asked what it was for, they said they had no idea.I have never in my life been spoken to as rudely as they have spoken to me. For the amount you pay to live here, you should be allowed to reserve a 10 minute time block to move your belongings out of the place.
Very happy thus far and the yard has been a great asset for us. Much much much better than my last residence which was worse than awful. Kudos WC, keep it up.
We have maintained an apartment here since early 2015 as my husband worked in Manhattan. We will be moving out at the end of this month to return to our home in Canada. Apartment reviews in large buildings are tricky because if you have a bad neighbour it can really taint your experience. Living on top of one another is tricky. However we found our experience at Windsor Court to be solid. We had a flex 3 bdrm. on the 31st floor with a stunning view. It was just the two of us so we felt like we had enough space - about 1,000 sq. ft. There was nothing fancy to our apartment but we did grow to love the convenience of Kips Bay. We also appreciated the doormen, who have all been around for a long time ( they are unionized), the front desk and the package room. Everyone was great to us. When we needed something fixed it was done quickly and special requests were handled promptly. Our neighbours were also very quiet and respectful. We did not have people partying all hours and contrary to what some may think there are many older people as well as families who live in this building (155) - perhaps they can't see us :) We loved the light in the building and the kitchen was adequate. This wasn't our main home but we throughly enjoyed our time here.Cons:
The biggest complaint we had was the gym above us. It could be noisy and our complaints were never really dealt with by management there. We were offered another apartment in the building by Windsor Court however we declined as we knew we would only stay for 2 years.
If I could give Windsor court negative stars, I would. The absolute worst building I have ever experienced in NYC (I have been living here for 5+ years). SO overpriced, the apartments are loud, bright & noisy (can't sleep past 8), the doormen are arrogant & make you feel uncomfortable every single time you walk in the building. If you have guests (such as a girlfriend that comes in every single night & they recognize but pretend not to) the doormen Will make them feel uncomfortable as well & ask for multiple forms of ID- I understand safety in a building but this is just excessive abuse of power & unacceptable. You have to PAY per month an extra $70 or $20 per day to use the SHITTY gym & "pool" (lap pool only- no lounging). Complete rip off. Do not even consider living here.
To be frankly honest, this place is a shithole. I subleased a 1BR Flex room from a friend of mine for five weeks, and it was simply a very negative living experience. The building is so outdated, and it smells like your grandma's basement. The gym is not included nor is the rooftop, and overall it is so overpriced in terms of other market comparables within Murray Hill/Kips Bay.Do yourself a favor and shop around because I ultimately found a 1BR flex in a 10x nicer building (washer and dryer IN unit, NEW appliance, WOOD floors, A/C unit BUILT IN, DISHWASHER, gym and rooftop INCLUDED) for the same exact monthly rent as the room I was in at the Windsor. The place is gross spend your money elsewhere.
The door staff are so nice!!Cons:
I lived there with my 10 year old daughter , the building is collage campos . The average age there is 25. Smoking pot & all. No place if you over 30. But the management office Is terrible !!!
I'm posting this review because I know how difficult it can be to find a nice apt in NYC and I was a little scared off by some of the other reviews here. I've lived here for about a month now, and I'm very happy. The apartment is great. All of the appliances work perfectly, great AC/heat unit, very clean building, nice staff, have never seen a roach. Yes, the building is full off 21 yos who have just graduated from college so if that is your age range you will fit right in. I am older and was hoping for something more quiet so that was the one thing that I was worried about. I really haven't had any issues. One night the neighbors were having a very loud party, but when we asked them to quiet down, they immediately turned off the music. Other than that the apartment is very quiet. I never hear my neighbors talking, no one above me walking around, no pets barking, etc. The double windows are great and block out most of the noise. There are a lot of sirens however but that seems to be everywhere in midtown. Overall, love this building. The maintenance staff does a great job, and the apartment itself is large and beautiful!
