I moved into Riverbank West about 2 months ago. My apartment had been newly renovated with great appliances, an open kitchen with ample storage, and lots of closet space. The view is wonderful and the apartment is very spacious. When we looked at apartments, we met with Imeh, who was extremely nice and showed us a few different apartments in our price range. We ended up deciding to go with riverbank because the view and the amenities stood out among other newly renovated apartments in the same price bracket.Since moving in I've had an excellent experience. The door staff has been very nice, and was very helpful on my move in day. The valet service is so convenient, and helps with everything from packages to dry cleaning. They also have an automated amazon locker style package pickup area for smaller packages and picking up late. There's coffee in the lobby every morning from a place next door, and the leasing office staff is extremely kind when I see them around the building. The amenities floor is an awesome feature of the building. It has a gym with dumbbells and cardio machines, as well as a pool, sauna, and steam room. Additionally, there is a pool table, areas where people who work from home often do work during the day, and where people convene at night. On the other side of the amenities floor are the laundry room and a room with a dog bath (The building is pet friendly and there are lots of dogs).There is still construction going on at the building. Currently they are working on the floor above me, so sometimes between 10am and 4pm I must go down to the amenity floor to work for a couple of hours, but there's plenty of space and wifi there, so this is not a big inconvenience. The front driveway of the building is also under construction, but it seems like this is nearing completion, and will be a nice spot for cars/ubers to pull into (it will also be connected directly to a parking garage). All in all I've had a fantastic experience with riverbank, and would definitely recommend someone look at a place here.

Quick update post move : the front desk staff and valet service and handymen have all been fantastic and welcoming !! A particular mention goes out again to Jorge from the leasing office who has made the move very easy and always been extremely courteous and prompt in his assistance. A few teething issues but nothing that has not been addressed and looked into. Thank you Riverbank team!

Do NOT move into this building. I lived at Riverbank for two years. At first, the building was great, management was very friendly and helpful, and then . . . the renovations started. First it was the closure of the amenities level, then the lobby, then nearly daily water shutdowns, no gas for a month, elevator closures, mail room closures, and then they decided to basically demolish the entire entrance to the building. And yet, amidst all this, they actually increased the price of rent. Huh? Not happy? Need a service elevator? Looking for the promised credit for the amenities level shutdown? Good luck trying to get ANY response from anyone in management. Oh, and if after you move out, don't expect to get your security deposit back. Ever. Although promised a full refund when I moved out, I had to contact the NYS Attorney General's office to get them to finally refund the deposit. And PS, I still haven't received that promised credit.

The building was under renovation so we had to move out three months before normal lease termination. We've been waiting for months to get our security deposit back, but it was lost during transit. We contacted the leasing office and they were not responsive at all. We confirmed with USPS that it was lost but the leasing office refused to reissue the check and said they'll contact USPS but we never heard back from them. SOOOO disappointed with the service provided and would never recommend anyone to live there.

I would have given this apartment zero stars if it were possible. If you enjoy loud noise from never ending construction, rude management, and out dated luxury amenities then this might be the place for you! I've lived in some terrible places in my day, but this is by far the worst place I have ever lived. Don't let the outside of this building or location fool you; this is a DUMP. As a matter of fact, you couldn't pay for me to live here again. Sad!

Dear god where do I begin! First off they've been under construction for over 7 months now. They turn off the water every other day. Don't forget to mention we were without gas for 3-4 months! Oh and on top of all that besides paying 4000 a months we aren't allowed to use the rooftop ever! They forced everyone to get off the roof right before the July 4th fireworks went off....despicable! The doorman aren't very nice. And each floor either smells like cigarettes or weed! So nasty! Avoid this building!!!!

Do NOT live here. I have never been lied to or disrespected more from any other management company. They tricked me into signing a lease by withholding information that the building (let alone the apartment I was signing into) was going under renovations and in just 5 months of living there they said they wanted us to terminate our lease or if we chose to stay, we would have to live with dust, noise, and our entire floor being under construction. This is fraudulent inducement! I asked when construction would start so I could plan my move out accordingly and they refused to answer. I woke up to men pounding holes into the wall in the apartment on the otherwise of my bedroom. My hall is full of strange men, constant construction noise, dirt and tarp everywhere. I told management I would move out by May 31st. They told us they would send a move out packet explain procedure, etc. I'm still waiting. So since they do not respond and do not do what they say they're going to, I made plans with my new apartment and movers to move out May 30th. (Mind you I've already paid my rent through May 31st). I emailed them again saying I would be out on Tuesday, that I could do anytime between 9am-6pm, and what I should do with my keys. They responded with I can't use ANY of the 5 elevators in the building except between 6pm-9pm (when I work) or if I need to do it during the day, then I can move this Saturday and loose 5 days of rent I already paid for. They said all elevators are booked. Booked I'm sure because of the 20-30 construction workers they have using them all day to renovate and hike up the prices. And don't let me forget we went over 76 days without cooking gas. From started in September DAYS after I moved in and didn't get fixed until January 31st. Then we went over 10 days without heat in Dec and Jan. On top of that, we are now on day 31 of our water being shut off so they can 'install valves in the renovated apartments'. I've been asking for months if we're going to receive any sort of abatement for the continual no water. I once had to go over 3 days without showering because we had no hot water... only freezing cold (and that was a treat that we even had cold water). Yet, of course... there's no response. So not only have they tricked me into signing a lease by withholding information that my lease may not be the full 12 months and that the clause about the option to renew was null and void. Not only have I not had basic utilities that I pay for including gas, heat, and water every since I moved in. Not only did they not even tell me when construction was going to commence so I did not have to pay my full rent and live with strange men all over my floor, constant major noise (weeks and weekends), and dirt/dust all over the floor. Not only did they terminate my lease. But now.... they're not even helping me by letting me move out unless I do it on their time table that works around their construction... knowing I work evenings and knowing I was supposed to depart by the 31st and knowing they never sent me the info on parameters to move out anyway. Do not live here! Once you've signed the lease... you don't matter.(But yet, it will not shock me if I get a response on here since this is public.)

I lived in RBW for about 4 years. The first few years in the building were okay. Some Positives to note: The renovated apartments look great, Maria at the package and dry cleaning center is SUPER friendly and was a joy to work with, My view was awesome, and the apartment was pretty spacious for NYC, lots of closets. Krista in the leasing office was always pleasant and nice, I always tried to work with her when I had an issue. Even though my apartment faced 42nd street, the windows were pretty thick and I didn't hear much noise.

My roommate and I had trouble with our hot water in the shower a few times, but nothing that lasted too long. My last year from 2016-2017 was absolute hell.At the end of 2016 we did not have any gas in our apartment for about a week and 1/2. They said they were fixing an issue on our line of apartments. This issue was resolved and our gas was restored. About a week later we received an e-mail that there were further issues and that the gas had to be turned off. We did not have gas for at least two months after that. For much of that time we did not even have access to the dryers in the building to do our own laundry. The management team could not have handled the experience any worse. They ended up giving everyone in the building rent concessions and electric stovetops that wouldn't even bring water to a boil. Not to mention, during the coldest days of the winter, the heat stopped working. After the tenants formed a Facebook group to band together and complain, they got on top of communicating about rent concessions.They started construction in the building sometime last year as well. I work from home many days of the week and would hear constant loud banging and drilling all day. Not to mention the construction workers who were having loud conversations in the hallways up until 6pm some nights. Complaining to management multiple times got me a sorry but were not that sorry e-mail in reply.With the construction came a water shut off almost every week. I was used to not having hot water on occasion, but every week started to drive me crazy. I would get an email the night before that water would be turned off for my unit the next day. This was not adequate time to plan my sleeping and showering schedule around the water shut offs and constant loud construction noise during the day. Again -- managements responses to questions and complaints made it seem like they did not care. The primary water heater was also broken for sometime and left us with cold water in the shower randomly, complaint e-mails were often left unanswered about this.The final straw was my move out when they confirmed that I booked the freight elevator over the phone but day of seemed to only have a record that someone wanted to use the elevator "for a few rides" to move out. They had no record of all of the insurance and other documents that they confirmed receiving a few days before. I shared the elevator with the construction workers and it took me over 5 hours to move out with no sympathy from the building. In fact I got a LOT of attitude from one of the male leasing specialists who works in the management office and the doorman who was coordinating my use of the elevator.The doormen and concierge staff are friendly, but I found it odd that on the day before I moved out, the doorman who I had known for 4+ years introduced himself to me and asked me what apartment I moved into. At my new building the doorman and concierge memorized my name and apartment within the first 2 days of me moving in, and have been nothing but helpful. Its a huge step up from RBW's "White Glove Service". I won't get into the renovation of the amenity floor which started with very little notice. At least we were quickly compensated for that.Please believe the reviews on apartmentraitings.com. It was absolutely horrible living there the last year. Constant stress and frustration made worse by loud noise, uncertainty if the shower would turn on and be hot, and a management team who isn't adequately equipped to handle the level of customer service a luxury building should provide. Do not move here!I have lived here for 2 years. The first year was pretty pain free. After resigning my lease, things got terrible. Because of renovations in other apartments (so I am not benefitting from it) there are water outages almost all day very frequently. The amenities floor has also been under construction for several weeks, something that we were not notified about when resigning. They are also about to renovate the lobby and public area, which I only found out about because I was looking online for other apartments, and was shocked to see that the pictures of Riverbank look nothing like it does now. There were a stretch of weeks where my heat was not working. Now every apartment is going on 2 months without gas to cook with and many apartments are without heat or hot water. The management has not been understanding and have offered minimal concessions for what we are going through. They do not accommodate you and are treating their tenants terribly with very little compassion for our situations. This has been a terrible experience and I wish I never moved here in the first place.

I have been living in RBW for the past year - the staff has been really great, professional and always friendly. The location is great right in the center of Manhatten though a bit fare from shopping. The concierge service works fantastic - Maria is super sweet. Big kudo to Zarmina who helped me when I moved in and also was to great assistance when I moved to California. I really recommend RBW to any newcomers in NYC.

Building is an absolutely nightmare. Do not move here!!!!!I've lived here for nearly two years. We've had a consistent ant problem and issues with the floor tiles warping so dramatically you trip over them during the summer.Regularly have no hot water in the mornings. Throughout much of December our unit (and many others) had no heat. The gas has been shut off in all units for nearly a month with no resolution in sight. As a result, we have not been able to use our ovens, the building laundry facility and have cold water even more frequently. To make matters worse, management has shown very little empathy for our situation. At 3,600/mo for a one bedroom, these problems are unacceptable. Most tenants in the building have little confidence management will do anything to compensate us for our troubles - which are entirely within the building's control.One positive: the building staff (valet, concierge, door men, and on site maintenance guys) are fantastic. Management = awful.I will be vacating as soon as possible. Don't rent in Riverbank West.

Everything in the building is held together by gum and scotch tape. They are constantly shutting off heat and hot water (sometimes just the water in general. As in, there is no water in the building) to fix issues that never seem to actually end up being fixed. In May of 2015 they sent out a building-wide email announcing a "wonderful new capital project" that would upgrade the boilers, thus fixing our heat and hot water issues. A year and a half later and it's worse than ever. Here are a few of the issues I've encountered:- The entire building has been without gas to their stoves and to the dryers in the laundry room for about a month. EDIT: it has now been two months- Heat and/or hot water have been out almost every day since the winter started.- Our new "gut renovated apartment" was a complete rush job. Outlets, cable, dish washer, and every single air conditioner unit did not work when we moved in. - Floors are warped and have yet to be fixed (moved in at the beginning of July of this year)- Toilet had been constantly running for about 5 months. Finally fixed after it overflowed while i was out of the apartment - THE ENTIRE 100+ POUND VANITY MIRROR in the bathroom fell off of the wall while my roommate was in the bathroom. Luckily he was unharmed.- Bed bugs- Bed bugs- Bed bugsI'm sure I'm missing a whole lot. Moral of the story, avoid like the plague. Also, send help.

It has been 3 days that my apartment has no heating and no cooking gas. The building would not even send an email out to admit that there is heating problem (until today after I insisted). For three days, the reception people have been doling out variations of "we are working on it" or "the boiler is working so I don't know why you don't have heat" or "the mechanic has been called". The *maintenance manager* is nowhere to be found. Yesterday (on the second day without heat) reception says they can lend an electric heater. Excuse me but I don't want to pay through my nose for electricity. I'm paying $3.5K for the apartment and expect it to have heat with that. Even before heating vanished 3 days ago, the HVAC units in the apartment had banging noises, which is due to excess air inside the pipes. On telling one of the maintenance people that this is a problem, he dismissed it as if it is just the way it is.What is also disturbing is that when you post a single sentence message on their so-called forum to see who else in the building is affected, they don't approve your message to be posted on the said forum.

Where to begin.... Let's start with a few of the issues I've personally had over the past year... First, our unit was without working gas for WEEKS, with little sympathy from the management office. I tried to express my concerns to the management office over the additional fees my unit incurred as a result of having no working gas, but I simply received a cookie-cutter email referring to the "habitability" clause of our lease... glad to hear that RBW feels an apartment without working gas for food is fully habitable. After weeks of vague "updates", all of which said the same thing... "we continue to work on the issue, and it is currently unresolved... we will provide you with an update tomorrow"... we FINALLY got gas turned back on. The building graciously comped us $100 for weeks of no gas, even though the building maintains the authority to fine residents 10% for being ONE DAY LATE on rent...Makes sense, right? I estimated the additional cost to our unit to be somewhere around $700, yet the management office firmly maintained $100 concession is fair, but kindly offered possible GIFT CARDS as additional compensation.... ARE YOU KIDDING ME???Next, the building sent us an email stating that they were "excited to announce that the amenities floor will be closed for 16 weeks undergoing renovations".... in other words, glad to announce that the $1000 u paid for amenities was FOR NOTHING. In all fairness, the building is currently "reviewing possible concessions", but if its anything like the paltry $100 I was given for weeks without gas, then it is likely a laughable and insulting concession, at best.Next I want to talk about the general demeanor and attitude of the management office surrounding fees... the building LOVES to threaten residents with additional fees... for instance, the building will be undergoing HVAC unit inspections, and prior to the actual inspection, a notice will be sent out insisting that all furniture be moved 3 feet away from the HVAC unit or you will be FINED $500!!!! The general point I want to make is that this building is GREEDY, UNFRIENDLY, and UNPROFESSIONAL, and I would NOT recommend you live here. Please, please, please, if you are reading this and are currently considering moving into RBW, THINK AGAIN.

If the reviews below weren't warning enough, here's another crap review:The building seems like a really nice, clean, and overall pleasant place to live but the minute all papers are signed and money is exchange they could let give two shits about your experience.I can't begin to list the countless problems we had with leaking AC units, rude doormen (although there are a couple of gems who kept me sane), and unbelievably incompetent lesson staff.It really blew my mind how poorly managed this building was and I would never refer anyone to this building. While prices are reasonable, the quality of the living experience you will have is not nearly worth the trouble. I was extremely disappointed to find that living in this "luxury building" felt like nothing of the sorts.Aside from the poorly run building, the area isn't ideal - it's noisy all the time with a police station and fire station half a block away. To get to any subway you have to walk at least 3 avenues so that adds 15 minutes to any commute. Generally, besides Gotham Market, there aren't any quick bites within a couple blocks for late work nights or fast pick up when you need it.Overall a very poor year and I was happy to be out. I would never move back in nor would I wish this on my worst enemy.

whatever you do, don't live here. We thought the reviews were hit or miss with the people's complaints (1.5 years ago), and boy were we wrong. i could give a laundry list (yup laundry is one of them too) of the issues but i'll say...We complained about hot water issues oct 2014, the building as a whole didn't incur these issues for several months later, however after 10 months of the issue still not being fixed.. we cancelled our lease (even though they said we would be able to forfeit our lease at no cost previously, they no longer would give us that option.) i was willing to throw money away to get out of this apartment. (as of us moving out Oct 2015 hot water issue was still a reoccurring issue- 1 year from us reporting)Save yourself the time and aggravation and do not live here. Besides the fancy counter-tops and paint job the building is so old it should be torn down and start again. some issues, but i promise you, not all:-constant running toilets (even when they're "fixed")-bedroom HVAC had to be replaced 2x and finally the maintenance team notice a knob was broken (living room HVAC 1x)-outdated plumbing and heating (check out the shower knob, when we asked why it was from 1980 Walter, leasing agent, shrugged)-elevators often out of service with no updates of being fixed-cannot even have friends w a dog visit you because no more dogs allowed (oddest rule ever)besides -- the leasing agents are incompetent and jerks.Plenty of other great apartments in this area to not deal with this headache.

My boyfriend and I couldn't agree on any aesthetics except black-colored wood. Random, but that's what it was. So when we visited the Riverbank apartment and there were black parquet floors, we were sold. Well that, the balcony, and epic views from the 26th floor. Times Square actually looks pretty from up there.The gym is open until 11pm, which I know is the only reason I exercised. Very convenient. The lounge with pool table is chill, too. The doormen are the SHIT! They are consistently friendly and reliable. I unfortunately had some extenuating circumstances where I needed extra security, and they took the matter very seriously. This was also led by the Riverbank leasing office. Director George Laitsas and Manager Vincent Criccio spoke to each doorman individually to make sure they knew there were changes to my security instructions. Vincent was particularly understanding and accommodating throughout the situation in terms of hearing my concerns and finding solutions. I mean I don't know him that personally, but he really seems like a good guy. He's been consistent with this whether it's explaining a clause in my lease or resolving a noise complaint...which actually leads me to my con.

Cons:

I had a neighbor that kept reporting me to the front desk for playing music at 2pm on a Saturday (I keep my subwoofer at 2 or 3). I didn't know who it was, but the neighbor would rather call the front desk than have a conversation with me. As a result, despite attempting to adjust my volume, I had 3 noise strikes against me. I was asked to come into the leasing office. I felt like I had been called to see the Principal. But Vincent handled it. He asked me for my perspective, asked if my speakers were on any shared walls (which they weren't), and essentially decided the noise complaints were a bit unfair. I didn't receive any further complaints.Perhaps having neighbors that would rather talk to the manager before talking to you is just part of living in a luxury building, but I found that irritating, especially if the management wasn't reasonable, it could have been grounds for eviction. Luckily, the building was understanding and that was the only beef I had with any of the neighbors, but I feel like that's bound to happen anywhere.

The leasing agents are the WORST part about this apartment. They are hard to reach and extremely rude. My roommates and I had our meeting about how much the rent is going to go up if we renew. They said $600/mo. (which is NOT worth is compared to the other places around us, who actually have nice stainless steel appliances, etc.) So the leasing person said two days she will give us the final offer. So we waited. It's now five days later, she still hasn't told us, and when I called (for the millionth time, also sent emails), I was informed that she is off today. Not okay. Not to mention that we have to decide if we are renewing the lease in 5 days. But we don't even know what the new rent is going to be. I would understand if they worked for multiple buildings - but they don't!! Leasing agents - DO YOUR JOB. Would give them 0 stars if I could.

If you enjoy never having hot water and having to pay to dry your clothes twice (since drying them once never actually does anything) then move in to RBW! The hot water seems to be off once every two weeks.Also...They will tell you that there is one flat fee for late rent--so we thought then what is the rush? We will get them the required CERTIFIED CHECK for 10% of our monthly rent next week when we had time. Nope!!!!!!!!! Think again!!!!!!!--we were emailed 20 minutes prior to the office closing on a Saturday saying that if they didn't have the check by Monday at 10AM they would be starting the eviction process and we would have to pay for that and all of their lawyer fees?? What?? We had just spoken to your office staff 3 days prior and they didn't mention anything about this or else we would have run out that morning to get the certified check and hand deliver it to the office as required. They could have at least buzzed our apartment or called one of us--I wasn't sitting diligently at the computer looking for an email from them. Instead we had to go out, get the certified check that Sunday and go into work 2 hours late on Monday since they don't open the office until 9AM and it is mandatory that the check is handed in personally. They were not understanding at all and would not allow us to deliver the check after work. I have never seen such unethical management practices.Will not be resigning a lease.

My fridge never worked and they told it was just fine until i moved out then they wanted me to pay for a replacement. I ended my stay there in a lawsuit with Massachusetts Mutual who owns the building.

It's amazing to me how a $3,600 per month apartment can have such horrible service with water outages. Aside from the times that no announcements were made and hot water not in operation, there have been 10 times since January 23rd that our water has been out for the day and that is OUTRAGEOUS.
