The building is really nice and all of the staff are all really friendly and responsive. Our view incredible and many of the apartments have floor to ceiling windows, and really high ceilings. The trash rooms are incredibly clean and smell better than my apartment (they use some sort of citrus scented cleaner). I can't review the outdoor area since it has been closed the entire time I have lived here (it is closed from October - April) but it looks quite nice.

My only complaint is the over the top forms that you need to fill out to move in. For example, the 53 page lease (yes, 53 pages long) includes a morality clause where you have to promise not to do drugs, hire prostitutes or fire guns into the air (which last time I checked is already covered by regular law). Anyway the forms don't reflect on the staff at the building, which are all wonderful. I highly recommend it.

We just moved into the Atlas building last month and it has been a great experience so far. Greg, the leasing agent was very helpful with the process. The building made moving a very easy and smooth process as well! Location is perfect, the door men are awesome, it's a great place to call home!

I've lived at the Atlas for 2 years and just signed another lease. I've been quite happy here until recently, but I'm hopeful the situation will improve. The Good:- The staff is fantastic. Everyone from the front door staff to the porters to the maintenance staff are competent and friendly. Management has also been quite responsive and pleasant to interact with. - The views from the roof deck are simply amazing. The rooftop is a big reason why we chose the building and continue to stay here. Yoga classes are held on the roof on summer evenings, and the building throws fun events up there. Having that fabulous outdoor and entertaining space has been the best part of living here. - Maintenance has always been very prompt (same day or next day)- Our windows are fairly sound-resistant. While you can hear some street noise, it's rarely bad enough to wake me up. (Now the dogs next door, on the other hand... lol.) If you're noise sensitive, I recommend living on the east side of the building, and not on the 6th Avenue side. - The people who live here are mostly professionals, and we've been lucky to have really awesome people living on our floor. Except for the new neighbors, people in the building tend to be friendly and quiet, and mostly keep to themselves. It's certainly not a party building. If we do end up moving, I'll update my review with how the move-out process goes and whether there are any shenanigans with our security deposit.

The Bad:- I thought the walls were nice and thick, but it turned out we were just blessed with quiet neighbors. Some new folks moved in next door and, although we have an elevator bank between our apartments, they've really disturbed our sleep and quality of life. Their TV is always on, and it's so loud that it actually shakes our bedroom walls. Their dogs bark and howl constantly. All the neighbors on our floor have complained, as well as the neighbors upstairs and downstairs. Management has said they're talking to the tenants about getting a dog walker and training the dogs, but the dogs bark even while the tenants are home, so I don't know how that can help. The leasing office was able to give us some flexibility in signing our new lease, which I appreciate, because we're going to give it another month or two to see if the dogs calm down before we're forced to move. I like the building and hope we don't have to move. But beware that your noise level will depend very much on who your neighbors are.- We used to have fabulous views of the Empire State Building and downtown, but a hotel was built across the street, so now we have hotel rooms looking directly into our windows. That's not the fault of the building, but the once-spectacular views from our living room were a major draw. - The lobby is under remodel, which is supposed to be completed in the next couple months. It's been quite the pain to have to use the very cold service entrance and walk through a construction zone. I understand the need for improvements and maintenance, but I hope this isn't a sign that more portions of the building are going to be slated next for shutdowns/renovations.

My wife and I have had an excellent experience overall in our 2 years here. Atlas appears well-run, management has been responsive when we've needed them, and the doormen are great. The rents are very reasonable for what you get, presumably because a lot of people don't want to live in midtown. We looked at similar buildings/units about 12 blocks south in Chelsea, for $1000/month more.Some points:- The views on the roof deck are SPECTACULAR. 360 degrees mostly unobstructed on the 47th floor and the Empire State Building is right in your face. I'd pay hundreds a month for the roof deck alone. The downsides are that it's closed for about 6 months of the year, and it closes early nightly (10 if I recall).- We're happy with the unit itself. Our "F" line 1br unit is well laid out, lots of closets, no wasted space, plus an open kitchen with breakfast bar. The bathroom is much nicer than other similar buildings we've lived in.- The area is very polarizing, but for putting up with the craziness, you get extreme convenience. Virtually anything we need is a short walk away now that Whole Foods opened across from Bryant Park. It's probably the best place in the city for subways: 123, BDFM, NQRW within ~3 blocks, plus 456 and ACE not too far away. Penn Station and Grand Central are both short walks, ~10 mins. Refinery hotel across the street is great to have.

We recently got an apartment in this building. Sintiea was very helpful, quick and responsive throughout the whole process. Upon meeting the staff, we felt very warm and welcomed. The building looks very well maintained and it's nice to know that people who work here are also happy.

I have been a tenant of the Atlas for about 3 years and really enjoyed the experience. My apartment has good sound insulation, fast elevators, a beautiful rooftop deck, fantastic views, and a very convenient location.The icing on the cake is the senior leasing agent, Liza, who is the most responsive and helpful professional there is (I would hire her if I could!). She always answered all my questions within minutes and showed great care for her work. Also, Byron, one of the most dedicated and kind doormen I've ever had. He is a gentleman and a scholar! They should promote him ASAP!The rest of the management is OK. Some better than others. But generally fine.If you're looking to live in midtown, look no further. I truly enjoyed living here and would recommend the Atlas to anyone.

For a rental building the Atlas is a pretty good choice for large apartments with good layouts and numerous closets. We were lucky because our apartment was just renovated before we moved in, so the kitchen and bathroom are brand new and the floors are redone (no more parquet). The amenities are great as well - the gym is decent, roof deck has a fantastic view, doormen are mostly friendly (Tom is the best!), and free coffee and pastries is a nice perk.

However, the management and leasing company are pretty incompetent and I try to avoid dealing with them unless absolutely necessary. I had a few questions as we were signing our lease, moving in, etc. and tried to email them to get answers. Every single time I emailed someone, I was told to email someone else, then the next person would redirect me, etc. multiple times. It was frustrating and a huge waste of time, especially right in the middle of moving. I've tried emailing the concierge a few times with questions but have always been redirected to ask the doorman instead. I'm still not sure who the concierge is/what exactly they can help with, although the brochure indicated the concierge could help with anything you need.

Front desk staff has always been nice, never had a problem here. Great view of Empire State Building

Management is one of the most ridiculous groups I have every tried to work with. Building is nice, but leasing terms and attitude are one of the most difficult. Not worth the effort. Other nice buildings with much nicer people in the immediate area.

I've spent close to 20 years renting apartments in NYC, and this is the first time I've written a review for any building. I truly enjoyed living at Gotham West. Upon getting hired for a job in NYC, I needed to find a place to live quickly. I'd lived in Hell's Kitchen before (I had to be one of the first tenants to live between 10th and 11th Ave years ago!), and the area has grown and become one of the most enjoyable, diverse, walkable areas in the city. The leasing office was extremely helpful to me (I worked with Shoshana). The application and leasing process took place online and moved very quickly. Here's what I enjoyed about the building and my apartment:MY APARTMENT--Studio at a lower price than other luxury studios I looked at in the area, facing east with a great view of the city skyline and lots of morning/afternoon sun.--Spacious walk-in closet with a hidden wifi/modem compartment.--Nice-looking functional kitchen with full-size stainless appliances, Bosch dishwasher and large soft-close drawers (excellent balance of cabinets and drawers compared to many apartments), and an iPhone charging outlet in the kitchen.--Nice, smooth-tiled bathroom with excellent lighting and tons of mirrors, including a full-size dressing mirror that opens with lots of shelves inside; two large soft-close cabinet drawers underneath the sink; very good water pressure in the sink and shower/tub.THE BUILDING--Location is near some of my favorite places in the city: easy to walk for rush tix to Broadway shows (rush tix are cheap and usually better seats than expensive tickets), Joe Allen's on 46th, Nizza and Juice Generation on 9th Avenue, and many more HK restaurants. --I really enjoyed the food downstairs at Gotham Market; the pizza spot, Corner Slice, is known as one of the top pizza spots in the city, and it also serves La Colombe coffee. The staff at El Colmado is great. There has been some turnover with establishments in the market but what's there is very convenient, and there's a new Sunrise market across the street which is a welcome addition for salads/omelettes/juices/quick needs.--This building is great if you love dogs. Bad day at work? Come home and the doggos will make you smile. And the porters keep the building very clean even with all the dogs.--Lobby entrance has a view of a spa-like water pool outside (relaxing).--Refuse rooms are cleaned out several times a day; I never saw them overflowing which is a first for me in NYC.--Best amenity space of any building I've lived in; huge lounge (with a business lounge) on the first floor with a rotating art installation, many comfy chairs, fireplace, kitchen area, TV and pool table; roof deck has spectacular city views and great lounge chairs as well.--Front desk concierges were welcoming, knowledgeable and helpful, especially considering how large the building is. They say hello when you come in (somewhat rare these days). --Free commuter shuttle bus is generally very dependable; I worked near Grand Central and it was a quick trip in the morning, definitely much nicer than taking public trans (and again, free, so it saved me some cash).--Near the water/running trail and dog park. Fascinating to watch the changes happening now along 11th Ave.--Good fitness room and the Resident Experience Manager schedules lots of building events, including chef demos in the kitchen. You get a building discount card for merchants they have relationships with.Especially considering how quickly I had to find an apartment and get moved in, I felt very fortunate to end up at Gotham West. (I did not experience any noise at night and slept well facing the center of the building.)
