Cons:

Worst living experience in NYC. The doorman allow anyone up to the unit. When I moved in my apt had many issues and it was impossible to get in touch with anyone. Noisy neighbors and lots of parties in the apt! Feels like a college dorm.

Pros:

Apartments are fine and so is Sam the super, but everything else is just bad.

Cons:

I lived here for 2 years and would advise anyone to NOT rent here. Once you sign the lease, Elk Investors - property managers/owners - don't care about you and are totally irresponsive. You will get charged additional stuff and fees, they are greedy, and don't treat you with dignity and respect. When I moved in, they pushed back my date from July 1 to October 15 and they didn't care at all. Now that I'm moving out, I needed 5 extra days to get my stuff out and I agreed to pay for them, but the greedy and unfriendly owners are obliging me to pay more than double the amount. STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS!

Cons:

I have never written a review before and I created an account just to write this review because that is how compelled I feel about my experience as a tenant at Sienna37. The management is absolutely horrible. The I signed had errors in it with respect to the move in and move out dates. I re-signed a new lease. However the management company did not provide me with a copy of the signed lease, which is unlawful, until I emailed them every single day for about two months after moving in. One month after I moved in they informed me that my rent was increasing and because I was not provided a copy of the lease that included the rent price that I agreed in the lease to I had no documentation to support my cause. I raised hell over this issue and then they finally told me they would agree to not make me pay the "increased" rent. I felt physically ill cutting a check to such crooks every month. Then about a month before my lease was set to expire, the doorman gave an burglar a key to an apartment. The keyfob included the apartment number and perfectly allowed the burglar to enter an apartment. The burglar entered the apartment using the key that he was given by the doorman! Luckily someone was in the apartment when the burglar entered to prevent theft but this is so incredibly unsafe I couldn't sleep for weeks. Knowing that my door could be locked but that the negligent security could cause me to be robbed was terrifying. Also, this didn't bother me too much but tenants should be aware before moving in that next door to the apartment building is a methadone clinic which results in tons of loitering by patients throughout the day and night. There was a drug related shooting a two block away the first few weeks I moved in daylight at 7am in the morning.

Pros:

Sam, the super, is pretty super, but everything else leaves a lot to be desired.

Cons:

Management makes promises to get you in the door and sign on the line. Once your lease is signed, you're completely disenfranchised. After delaying your move-in day after day, week after week, management will still argue about compensating you for the hotel expenses and storage costs accrued due to their incompetence. Beware: a year later, you'll still be negotiating with management on the free months promised to get you in the door. It's not surprising that after less than one year, a ton of units are already listed on StreetEasy with move-in incentives. If you're thinking about leasing here, I strongly implore you to research ELK Investors' history with a quick Google search. No amount of rent concessions are worth dealing with this irresponsible management company.
