Pros:

As a 20-year resident of Nautilus Hall from 1989-2009, my feelings are somewhat mixed. On one hand, I was proud to have resided in a Trump building. Nautilus Hall was built by Fred Trump during the early 60s. The building truly lived up to "luxury." Doorman, indoor garage, outdoor swimming pool, 2 bedrooms & 2 1/2 baths, and as of recent, storage lockers.

Cons:

The other side of the coin: I could not stomach half of my neighbors. eh Most of them were tenants from hell. From pot-head lunatics to arrogant Russians to functioning nuts, you were surrounded on every end. The building was also infested with mice & roaches.

For anyone looking to move into this building I will give you a heads up on some of the negative issues. You can determine if you want to move here. There is excessive pot smoking throughout the entire building from tenants, and strangers, in the hallways, stairwells, laundry room, lobby area and even in the trash compactor room. The smell of pot will come into your open and closed windows from tenants that smoke in there apartments, including cigarette fumes. You might also get that second smell coming thru your bathroom vents. This will interfere with your lives, and interrupt your sleeping. There are two entrances into the building, one of those lobby entrances where the doorman of the building lives, he smokes marijuana in his apartment constantly, so coming into that entrance way, you will be hit with his second hand fumes. Also coming onto your apartment floor from the elevator or walking thru your hallway the smell will be there. It is happening on most of the floors. It is also in the stairwells.There has been times when there is pot smoking in the pool area and sitting area in the front of the building.Sometimes the smell is so bad you start gagging, and the smell is like a a blunt, cigar laced with pot. Through your apartment might be updated and look good, everything else about this building will be a nightmare for you and your family. There will be no escape from these second hand odors in or out of your new apartment. Another issue to consider, the laundry rooms on both sides of the building each only have 4 dryers and 4 washing machine for all the tenants to use, expect to wait hours. Other times there are inconsiderate tenants who forget to remove there finished laundry out of the machines and you might have to wait for them to remove them. If you remove them, there could be a fight. The washers and dryers are broken most of the time, and the machines are garbage. Real estate agents don't tell you the bad or real situations, and are desperate to rent to anyone that can afford the rent and there fee. Management and the Super of the building are aware of the situation, but neither will get involved, The super and staff work on there own personal schedule, when they feel like it. The doorman Johnny who used to be the porter can be heard at times screaming and yelling in the front of the building, while on duty. He should be fired. The owner of the building would rather tenants move out so they could raise the rent instead of correcting issues. If you call the management office, they are useless, along with the property manager. This tells you what you will get if you move into this building that's not luxury. Slum Lords.Rents are overpriced for what you get, defective stuff, or used garbage. But what you will get is an unhealthy environment.
