Cons:

AVOID THIS PLACE!!! I stayed here for 4 years and when I left they never gave me back my rent deposit of almost $4000. SL Green recently took over management of the building said that I left the apartment in good condition and my deposit would be returned in full. But the rent deposit check was never mailed out, and was in "processing" for months by their accounting department for. It never mailed out, and sadly I fear I'll never see it again. I have filed a compliant with the NY City Attorney General.Anyway my recommendation is to avoid staying at this place or if you do stay here be sure not to provide a deposit because you will likely never see it again!

Pros:

The front desk people are super nice btw.

Cons:

The management is the worst people to deal with. Pretend not in the office, avoid our phone calls, voicemails, etc! When we speak to them, esp the property management guy, gives us the worst attitude at all! I have lived in multiple luxury buildings in the city, has never experienced such bad service. Thats why i moved out! Period!

Pros:

ANYTHING GOOD? There are some shining spots though! The door men and maintenance people are friendly and helpful. Nice views from the roof.

Cons:

BUILDING MANAGEMENT. Building management here is THE WORST. Very slow to respond and provide resolution (if any) to issues you bring to them. "We never negotiate on rent," is the mantra, so don't think you can work out a price and if you are planning to stay longer than your initial lease, be prepared for substantial rent increases each time you are up for renewal. I got tired of hearing the canned, emotionless excuse, "We are sorry for the inconvenience, but..." for every issue we experienced here. They will hope you give up on the issue you need help with and just go away, which eventually is what happens. After signing that lease, you really start to feel like a dollar sign to them and not like a valued resident. SMOKING. We were told "this is a non-smoking building," when signing our lease, but this is simply not true. Lots of smokers in this building, and it will come right into your unit, so be prepared for second hand smoke. NOISE. There is also a lot of noise that can be heard through the paper-thin walls and due to the constant state of construction the building is in. ELEVATORS. Extremely slow, and at a minimum one or two of them (out of four) are often out of order or reserved for staff use. If you are ever in a hurry, plan on being late. LAUNDRY. The laundry room is out-of-date, loads are expensive, and machines often break down. It appears as though you can alert the vendor when machines are out, which happens a lot, but the requests go unanswered. VERIZON FIOS. Touted as a benefit, but the service simply does not work in this building. Service mysteriously went out for extended periods (once was out for a month) 20+ times during our time here. At one point, the technician actually showed me the rat's nest of cable wiring for the building and pointed to this as the reason for the constant service outages. Verizon will say it's the building's fault, and the building will push blame to Verizon. You will get nowhere.Yay. Go on, take your chances if you are desperate. We've learned our lesson and are moving on.

Cons:

- Smoking allowed. Leasing office said building is non-smoking but tenants are allowed to smoke in their apt.- Mgmt is useless, report any issues and they will always say sorry for the inconvenience but offer no resolution- Elevators are slow and often inoperable- Large broken washers in the laundry rooms took weeks to repair- Verizon internet would go out monthly and if you saw the central wiring you would understand why- Thin walls, I could hear my neighbor belching and smell my neighbor's smoke+ Frequent social events+ Convenient location+ Great views from gym and roof+ Doorman and maintenance staff are the best

Management is pretty much worthless. Accounting and building management are terrible. They don't get back to you in a timely responsive manner when you pose simple questions to them. So they can also be described as dismissive - rude and lacking in etiquette. They will however get back to you quickly if you are looking to sign a lease. (NOT the porters, doormen and handymen - they are excellent). The views are great

Pros:

The views from the renovated one bedroom are magnificent and the rooftop gym is a perk.

Cons:

Not a safe or pleasant place to live. Why did I move in? However, the charm of this building quickly disappeared, and it is rapidly going downhill. One month after moving in there was a huge flood which destroyed our new apartment and many of the other units in the building. They repaired it, but it took over a month. Soon afterward I smelled gas in our apartment unit. The negligent management and maintenance team took 3 days to react, and when they did, they went in with a blow torch.... WHAT?!?! We were luckily at a hotel at that point, but had someone turned that blow torch on, the entire building would have exploded. And this was only a couple of weeks after the devastating gas explosion in the east village. Turns out my neighbors had left the gas on and were passed out in their apartment, possibly for days. And it took my building 5 days to figure this out! IDIOTS.And, just a few months later they had they increased our rent more than 10%, which is significantly more than the average rent increase. Having no true case against them and not having the mental capacity to move, we had to accept. And get this: On top of the rent increase they started to charge a rent processing fee! Which is completely ridiculous since we had been paying without an added fee for a few years. This is probably illegal.Management is dishonest and non responsive. They change policies without any notice. There is a dance studio in the building, which as a dancer was probably the only reason I stayed in the building for so long. For my entire rental period I had been able to use it when it wasn't reserved for some reason. This allowed me extra time to practice, to choreograph, and also to relax. But, without any notice this "policy" changed, and I was FORBIDDEN to enter the studio... Am I a child? Apparently, paying much more than $4000 per month (not including the new processing fee) for a one bedroom is not enough to allow for use of this dance studio. You have to RENT it. Excuse me, aren't I already renting in this building?I wouldn't suggest living here.

Pros:

Stonehenge always has great events for the residents. Free booze, food and yoga? Kind of awesome . Plus puppy parties? Can't complain here. For transportation, there is everything you could need. Penn station, subways and a can stand across the street. Gym has a great view, concierge is awesome

Cons:

I've lived here for two years... And yes management usually is crappy. They often aren't very responsive to emails and phone calls but thankfully there is the building link and if you need maintenance you can do it through there. They are great about that, they keep you up to date on the state of repairs. The damn elevators.. They are the SLOWEST thing ever. Always crowded because they take forever to close, the door close button doesn't work. But going from floor to floor is fast. Having to buy custom blinds - SUCKED. But it ensures I stay longer than I intended, had to recoup my investment. Location has zero food options, but 3 Starbucks in a block radius, Duane Reade across the street and the 24 hour diner down the street. It could totally be worse. For transportation, there is everything you could need. Penn station, subways and a can stand across the street. Gym has a great view, concierge is awesome but rent is high. 3990 for a 1br is a lot for what you get, but who likes to move?!?! Not me, the packing, the movers and then the unpacking.. Good area of you need to get to Jersey frequently.

Pros:

I'm really more giving it 3.5 stars, but I'll give it the benefit of the doubt because I wasn't miserable at The Olivia. people are overly harsh on this place. there are definite pros and cons. But I guess I'm a slightly different case- I had a 1BR converted to 2, but if I paid full price for a 1BR or studio, then yea I wouldn't be happy and probably would give 2-3 stars. Yes- there was a big flood issue this past year, but NYC buildings are old and hard to maintain. I think everything about this place is fine EXCEPT for management.Pros1) Gym is awesome. Great view, lots of machines, and doesn't get too crowded most of the time2) Doormen/ porters are all really nice, along with the Super. Some doormen are better than others- but all in all, all very courteous and nice. The Super Luis is very responsive to phone calls/ voicemails and he sends people to look at maintenance requests very fast (how long it takes them to solve is another issue. though ..)3) Cool social events occasionally- free food/ drinks, why not4) Location- although there are a lot of hobos and food options suck, transportation is great with taxis and subways 5) Walls between apartments seem decent. I never heard my next door neighbor, but you can clearly hear people in the hall

Cons:

Cons1) Building is kind of old so there have been leak issues. We had a leak issue for more than a year where water would keep dripping. We were told it was condensation and the builiding didn't figure out the real issue until roughly 1.5 years later. It was horrible to deal with. The super Luis was very helpful in trying his best to solve it but ultimately, they needed to hire professionals to come in to take a look and it was a disaster trying to get management to finally hire ppl to come take a look 2) Management- INCREDIBLY unresponsive. They don't respond to emails or phone calls. Their voicemails are full all the time. it's so annoying....once you do get a hold of them, they're very nice and courteous but MY GOD...but the process to have a conversation with them is just a PAIN and all on luck if they randomly decide to respond to your email/ call3) I feel like the building is filled with a lot of young people, which is fine (I'm young too in my 20's). But because they don't charge you for the amenities like gym, lounge, etc- things break ALL the time b/c people abuse the public areas especially when some people have had a bit too much to drink. the TV's never working because someone decided to break the remote or disconnect the cable and steal a cable wire or break the power button. Or people decide to break the rules and throw parties in the lounge (why the lounge/ gym now closes at 11PM vs. like 2AM historically)....pool table sticks are broken....it's just annoying and after a couple of months I just stopped using the lounge. I actually kind of feel bad for management having to deal with it....4) elevators are MADDDDDD SLOWWWWWWWWWWWWWW. and I'm really not that impatient with elevators. but holy crap, these elevators are so slow. The elevators themselves move fast between floors- the issue is the program used to fetch elevators. It's just really stupid/ illogical
