There is something wrong with the electrical meters in this building. You may expect a ConEd bill of approximately $1000 per month in the winter & $500 per month in the summer for a 2 bedroom unit. That's while running the heat or air conditioners at the bare minimum (heat at 60 degrees, air conditioners at 80 degrees) & only while you are in the unit. When we arrive home, the apartment is typically 50 degrees in the winter & 85 degrees in the summer (so far). We weatherized all the windows with plastic ourselves as they were installed incorrectly & allowed gales of air into the apartment this previous winter. The building attempted to fix the issue but did not succeed entirely as air still seeps in. During the repairs, our weatherizing efforts were destroyed so we'll be applying plastic to the windows again to now keep the heat out. Each unit has a massive hot water heater & setting that plus the refeigerator to Energy Star levels of efficiency (neither are Energy Star products that I can discern) the power bill remains obscenely high ($500-$1000/month). The building have offered no assistance or resolution to the ongoing problem so we won't be renewing our lease since it's bankrupting our family. The superintendent is great & keeps the building spotless but the management company replies to concerned emails with "It's your fault." & "Calm down."
